Eagle's Nest

The eggs have started to hatch!! The kids have been enjoying watching the Eagle nest video that is set up in Decorah, Iowa. Since they have been watching it, it has been their new playtime activity.

Yesterday, Josie was walking around saying that she is a bird while flapping her wings while she had two plastic eggs between her legs... she then would sit down and say, "Mom this is how the chickens/ birds lay their eggs." Then she would sit down and open her legs a little and two eggs would fall out!! She then proceed to sit on them for awhile so they could hatch open.

Tonight, they decided to play ducks/birds.

Here is what was happening.......
First they had to build their "nest" (blankets) high in the tallest "tree" (couch/ chair).

Connor (father bird) and Emma (mother bird) sleeping in their nest.. when they are awake they are moving around by moving their heads and adjusting their positions they are sitting in.
"Mama bird" sleeping while waiting for her eggs to hatch!

This is the " Mother Duck" (Josie) in the other tree sleeping waiting for her eggs to hatch. Beneath Josie is the "baby duck" (Karley) waiting to hatch open. Mother duck is just covering her up very well!!

Mother duck and her baby popping her head up! "Mother Duck" gave "baby duck" very good instructions when and how to start hatching!!

"Mother Duck's" babies.... one big duck and a little one which was known as the "ugly duckling"!
