Story Time

I know it has been awhile since I have updated the blog, but somehow January just flew by! Here are some of the latest happenings at the Belken household!

Karley really enjoys her books! Her favorite books recently are any books with cows in it and she knows exactly what books they are. She'll say, " McDonald, McDonald," when she graps the nursery rhyme book. Good thing her older siblings have been setting a good example for her when it comes to reading books. They LOVE to read also! She enjoys it when Connor and Emma read stories to her and even Josie as she makes the story up as she goes along!

School Lunch

We have had out fair share of Snow Days this school year. This last one the kids were playing school and pretended it was a cold lunch day, so we had to pack lunches, and we had to eat at their lunch time which was 11:20. After they were done eating, they cleaned up and went outside to play for recess!

Wrestling

Connor is part of the Little Eagles Wrestling team. This is his second year on the team. He hasn't participated in many tournaments. He is enjoying the practices and getting to learn more about the sport. (Terry and I have very little clue about wrestling so good thing for his cousins the Oberfoels to help him along.) Watching Connor you can tell that he has improved greatly since last year! He was in a four man bracket. One match he got to wrestling against one of his classmates. He ended up with 4th place, but he was excited about the medal he received.

My favorite part watching Connor:
1. It wasn't has hard to watch him this compared to last year!
2. During his match Karley would yell, "CONNOR, CONNOR!" A couple of times, she said it like she didn't like to see Connor get hurt.
3. After each match when Connor would come back over to us, Karley would yell, "CONNOR, CONNOR" in an excited voice and then either give him a kiss or hug! It was cute and Connor would give her a kiss or hug back! It was cute!!
4. Emma and Josie were a little interested, but enjoyed coloring most of the time!

Glamor Girls

The girls LOVE to play dress- up and make believe. Their latest has been being GLAMOR girls and walking around with a strut. Emma got some sample lipstick from a friend whose mom sells Avon. I have to say they have gotten much better with putting it on. It used to be ALL OVER their lips. This time they did pretty well. They also pretend they are Mom's and taking care of their babies. Lastly, they play as if they are going to meet their boyfriends! (I am afraid of what they are going to be like when they get older!) Their outfits include: scarves around their neck or arms, pink coats, fancy belts, glasses, lipstick, sticky tape for their earrings, a necklace, jeans and of course a pair of Mom's shoes!

Bedtime at the Belkens

Now that Karley is sleeping in the girls room in the big bed with Josie, I think Connor is feeling rather lonely in a room by himself. The lasted sleeping arrangements have been varied each night ( if they have been behaving themselves). All the girls get their turns sleeping with Connor and camping out on his floor while the other two sleep in the girls room. There have been times when all four get to sleep together or make a tent. It is starting to get a little snug with all for since they all like to move around in their sleep!
Yes, they are in there!

Fun in the Snow

The kids love going outside and playing in the snow when
the temperature is above 0 degrees!

It's never to cold to go swinging!

Dress Up Time

Santa brought new dress up cloths for the girls this year. Below are some pictures of the girls in some of the different outfits and accessories. They have been having lots of fun with them!

Winter Bike Ride

Even though it is cold outside, Josie is determined to get a bike ride in for the day! She gets everything ready herself and out she goes. She usually comes in with red cheeks and a red nose. Her gym teacher will be glad she is getting her Fitness minutes in over break!

Pond Walk

These pictures are taking us back in to the end of summer,
but I just got them so I wanted to share them.
My parents own some other farm land a couple miles away from their current farm and this land has a creek on it.
Grandma and Grandpa took the kids there one time
and they loved it! So one afternoon we were out at
the farm and the kids really wanted to go to the creek
so we did. The interesting thing about this piece of
land is that it is Terry's dad home land. The kids
also found that very interesting and also the bridge
that you see the kids crawling under is the same
bridge that Terry's dad and some relatives made
many years ago. It is still standing strong today!
At the end, they kids really enjoyed emptying
their boots of water and trying to get
Grandma wet! And YES, Josie kept her dress
dry and clean after it was all said and done!
